Why You Shouldn't Be Looking at Jennifer Lawrence Nude

The press has today been plagued with the news that over 100 celebrities are under threat of having intimate pictures of themselves leaked on the internet. Names such as Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Lea Michele and Kaley Cuoco are amongst those on a vile list released by an unknown person said to be hacking their phones after an iCloud leak.

I sit here an irritated young lady. I was messaged tonight and asked if I wanted to see Jennifer Lawrence nude. My answer was an instantaneous prolific no, yet my thoughts on the subject lingered.

If we were to eliminate the word celebrity from the equation, how differently would people look at this situation? All of the women under threat are victims- all trusted the situation they were in, took images they believed would remain safe and the release of these images is a violation of their privacy.

So What IS The Harm in a Couple of Photos Leaked Online?
"Might boost her career"
"She'll get over it"
"She shouldn't have taken them in the first place"

Statements of a similar stature are heard regularly in the case of  girls becoming victims of revenge porn- Young people are now becoming sexually active at a much younger age, the pressure to look attractive and gain a sexual partner seems a necessary goal but with the growth of a digital age, these images being used deviously are on the rise.

Social media is a place to interact, but it has also become a place of taunting and bullying, where both girls and boys face abuse from peers over their looks, their sexual orientation and the release of images similar to these.

Just as porn projects a false image of sex for young people, these pictures too could have a knock-on affect as to the lengths teenage girls are willing to go to to impress the opposite sex. Actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence, praised for her normality and her charm as well as her renowned role in family film Hunger Games could now have their reputations inadvertently tarnished and more importantly, be setting a worrying example to young fans.

Women are not sexual objects and if we are to take any steps towards equality, it would be to discontinue circulating awful images such as these. Before you decide to take a look at these images out of interest, think how you would feel if it was YOU.

Several celebrities have reacted to the situation in support:

Best and Worst Dressed at the Grammys 2014

Last week, the biggest night of music took place as the stars hit the red carpet in LA to strut their stuff and celebrate generations of talent. From the Beatles' Paul Mc Cartney, to new lady on the block Lorde, the night displayed an array of performances and gave nods to those chart-topping artists. Let's take a look at the best and worst dressed from the night.

Best Dressed

Katy Perry

Katy Perry obviously couldn't decide between gowns at the Grammys because she ended up changing a total of three times. Her red carpet piece is by far the most elegant, an ivory floor length dress with layered sheer skirts which reveal musical notes underneath. Finishing her clean-cut look with a chunky plait bun she looked every inch the ethereal beauty.

Paris Hilton
Miss Hilton was a shocker of the night, looking super sophisticated in a white, intricately embellished gown with sheer striped sleeves and a messy quiff. By far my favourite look of the night.

Rita Ora
Showing her and boyfriend Calvin Harris were stronger than ever, Ora strutted own the red carpet in this fabulous metallic moss bodycon dress. Teaming it with classic curls and skinny stilettos, she shone as she cuddled up to her beau.

Iggy Azalea
When it comes to Iggy Azalea, her choice of chiffon dresses have often been unflattering in the past. Opting for a light, elegant dress with a high neck and floor length however, it seemed to compliment her greatly. The wonderful intricacy of the embellished top half of the dress is perfect for the subtle vertical stripes that run down the bottom half, an effect which is slimming too.

Taylor Swift
Yay for the metallics last week as Taylor Swift leads the trend in this chain mail-esque gown with sheer sleeves and neck line. I love her relaxed pony which means no attention is averted from the eye-catching detail of the gown.

Beyoncé

On first look, I had slight doubts about this gown as I am not too keen on the doily look. However a combination of Beyoncé's posing and hair and beauty accompaniments won me over here- white floral print could be coming back in thanks to this piece. Such a pity the star caved into the pressures of weight loss though- Knowles is a svelte 6 here.

Worst Dressed

Madonna
Thats what you get when your son dresses you. It's almost as if we have rewound to the Me Against The Music video days, I half expected Madge to stick that cane in between her legs again and writhe around on the floor. The pop legend looked awful in this manly suit and over-sized hat, it was way too harsh on her fair complexion.  I'm waiting for the day this lady actually dons something sophisticated- I have a feeling I will be waiting a while.

Kelly Osbourne
THAT HAIR. Cut it, dye it, so something with it because it's awful. It often baffles me how Kelly Osbourne got herself on the panel of E!'s Fashion Police, as she is seldom in something appropriate. LBD's are fabulous but this one just swamps her. The embellished shoulders are gorgeous but the overall look is drab and her body seems to completely disappear.

Ariana Grande
Question: Will Ariana Grande ever do anything different with her hair? I fear the answer is no. Scraping it back and curling it seems to be the only style for her at the moment, and this prissy floral dress did nothing for me. Teaming it with silky, sickly pink heels sealed her fate.

P!nk
I absolutely adore P!nk, but her dress left me stale. I am not a fan of strapless pieces anyway, but I thought the combination of silky and matte panelling looked undesirable. I do love her signature quiff though, keep rocking it P!nk.

Guiliana Rancic
Can someone tell me why Rancic was even on the red carpet last weekend? Annoying E! host looked a vivid pukey colour at the Grammy's, displaying perfectly how NOT to wear a sheer piece. The white outline to the top of the dress is repulsive and even though Beyoncé got away with the doily look, Guilana did not.

Pharrell Williams
Nooooo! I was so disappointed to see one of the biggest successes in music at the moment, looking like a complete arse. His hat resembles a Dr Seuss creation, and why is he wearing half a tracksuit? I despair.

Paula Patton (and Robin Thicke)
The perve of pop took to the red carpet looking as creepy as he usually does, but it was his blasé wife who looked the most ghastly of the pair. Wearing what looked like a zebra rug, her textured gown made me as nauseous as I was when I first watched the Blurred Lines video.

Best and Worst Dressed at the MTV EMA's 2013

With the MTV EMA's being held at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome, we knew it was going to be a no holds barred affair, but I certainly wasn't prepared for the amount of weird happenings. From the wardrobe malfunctions of Iggy Azalea and Miley Cyrus, to Katy Perry being cocooned in ribbons, to LMFAO's Redfoo stripping off while presenting the event, TMI was an understatement. Let's take a look at some of the fashion hits, and misses of the night.

Best Dressed:

Katy Perry

Double whammy for Miss Katy Perry last night as she stepped out in two wonderful outfits. My favourite was her black netted dress complete with chunky gold Chanel accessories.

Her entrance gown was equally exquisite  and it was a breath of fresh air to see a star looking more demure. I loved her duck egg blue midi dress complete with floral headband. Sophistication defined!

Rita Ora

Miss Ora is definitely a style icon of mine, and with her freshly bleached locks, she looked even more striking last night in her black dress with high split. Despite it's simple design, her gold accessories finish off the piece perfectly. Less is more here.

Laura Whitmore

My first thoughts on this dress were pretty negative, but I love the unusual cut of Whitmore's dress and the black and grey symmetry of the design is intriguing.  Taking such a formal dress and accompanying some simple heels with a messy up-do makes the look more casual. Thumbs up Whitty!

Eva Simons

I actually LOVE how Simons came out in this outrageous totem pole-esque print outfit. The fringing on her cape is a bit too much but her hair defies gravity and that earns my respect. Can I have your chunky gold chain please??

Worst Dressed:

Louise Roe

So even though I'm not too sure who Roe is, I think she needs to ditch this dress, it's giving me a migraine. Prints are all well and good, but this is too much. This pattern should be stuck in a kaleidoscope, away from sensitive eyes such as mine.

Dizzee Rascal

And the award for minimal effort goes to... Dizzee! Are those tyre tracks on your sweatshirt? go buy a suit or something.
            From i4.mirror.co.uk

Iggy Azalea

Oh god. How do I even begin to describe the disaster which occurred last night? Iggy literally let it all hang out, front wedgy and all. Disgusting. Is nothing sacred any more?!

Ellie Goulding

When will celebrities realise that the sheer trend is well and truly over? This dress is too much like lingerie and far from the usual gowns Goulding opts for. So disappointing.

Ariana Grande

Ew, Ariana Grande looks emaciated here. Her dress isn't really age appropriate with the cheap-looking lace to the front of the piece, and I think Miss Grande needs advice on flesh coloured tights- the ones she is wearing are on the orange side.

Miley Cyrus

The worst dressed wouldn't be a worst dressed list without Cyrus would it? Camel toe ahoy for the star in this totally gratuitous leotard. PUT SOME CLOTHES ON. Saying that, I do usually love her other outlandish outfits.
