Best and Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes 2014

Award season is well and truly here and last night the biggest and most beautiful stars were celebrating their talent in style at the Golden Globes. Let's take a look at the hits and misses on the red carpet.

Best Dressed

Emma Watson

What do you do when you can't make that painstaking choice between cigarette trousers and a deep red gown? You combine the two to create this stunning Dior ensemble English rose Emma Watson wore on the red carpet last night. Combining the look with slim midnight blue stilettos and a subtle low bun, the actress looked effortless.

Amy Adams

Red was definitely a shade I was lusting after last night as fiery-haired actress Amy Adams opted for the same foxy tone as Watson. The plunging V-neck in deep maroon that led into a vibrant rouge suited her fair complection however I would have loved to have seen her hair in some loose waves. Either way a stunning piece.

Emma Roberts

In the height of its third season, American Horror Story actress and the newly engaged Emma Roberts topped her current success by looking effortlessly chic in her LBD accompanied by intricate oversized turquoise earrings. Accentuating her features in all the right places and with scraped-back hair that allowed all eyes to be on that dress, I thought it was one of the most striking looks of the night.

Margot Robbie

Emerging Australian actress Margot Robbie can do no wrong lately as her pieces for The Wolf of Wall Street premieres measured up to this stunning white Gucci gown. Jewel embellishments around the waist and sleeves flattered her svelte figure and those cheeky emerald heels add a splash of colour to her ethereal look. Top marks Margot!

Jennifer Lawrence
This lady has had a fabulous few months in fashion with an immense amount of successful pieces she donned during the world tour promotion of The Hunger Games Catching Fire. The most anticipated star of the night didn't disappoint in Dior as she embraced monochrome in this prom dress-esque sleeveless piece. Her deep rouge and oceanic earrings brought a fabulous contrast and finished off her look perfectly. You can do no wrong J- Law.

Julie Bowen

Velvet has been in for quite a while on the high street, and I was wondering when it might infiltrate the red carpet. Bowen demonstrated the right way to wear the fabric with this simple two-tone dress complete with belt and puffed 80s-style sleeves. That plum bottom half is to die for.

Kate Beckinsale

I'm not usually a fan of the metallic, but this shining piece would make a magpie foam at the mouth. Beckinsale combined the dress with minimal accessories, a plain black clutch and a messy up do- less is definitely more.

Amelia Clarke
The name Proenza Schouler might not be as prominent as Dior and Oscar De La Renta when it comes to red carpet fashion, but I would note it down. The mini mosaic monochrome print on the dress incorporated translucent panelling and a sophisticated front split. Perfection.

Julianna Margulies

Black dresses are the easiest way to make an impact whilst looking effortlessly gorgeous, suitably demonstrated here by Margulies whose black floor length gown becomes encapsulating at the shoulders and foot of the dress where gold coral-esque embellishments spread and progress.

Amber Heard
Johnny Depp's newest beau made an Angelina-esque impact on the red carpet in this midnight blue silk Atelier dress. Her loose and volumous quiff with smokey eyes would make anyone swoon. Fabulous job Amber!

Worst Dressed

Tina Fey

Fey is never too far from my worst dressed list, and I thought this gown was up there as one of her most dire. Curvaceous figures are fabulous but accentuating them further as demonstrated below is anything but flattering. Pink is a dangerous colour and just doesn't work here.

Zoe Saldana

My relationship with partially sheer pieces went from a slight dislike to a clinical loathing after seeing this piece worn by Saldana last night. Baby pink and black are colours only seen in the likes of Ann Summers, and those off-shoulder straps give me palpitations. WHY!

Uma Thurman

Two pieces are increasingly popular in high fashion and even though we are often encouraged to experiment with varying prints, this dress is a perfect demonstration of a clothing calamity. Slate grey silk combined with a black 90s-style high neck makes for a puzzling composition.

Mila Kunis
I usually love Kunis' style but this Gucci piece looks as if it should have been thrown away with last year's tinsel. Let's just hope she won't go the same way as Miss Longoria, who is now beyond help when it comes to red carpet mishaps.

Aubrey Plaza
Oscar de la Renta's over-simplistic bridesmaid-esque piece worn by Aubrey Plaza did nothing for me. The putrid two-tone silky gown sat uncomfortably on Plaza's figure and her matching pink clutch and purple heels make me want to vom.

Zooey Deschanel
Oh dear maybe I'm just not into Oscar de la Renta because I was sorely disappointed with Zooey's inspid shade and style of her dress. The only redeeming element to her outfit were her intricately embellished shoes which look like they could cause potential damage if she kicked anyone.

Bernice Bejo

Bejo may have made an impact stepping out in this outfit last night, but in a lot of ways I wish she would have faded into the carpet. What looked like a sleeveless blazer with crustacean style embellishments clinging to it composed the top half of the piece with a tatty train that made up the bottom half. More tampon than trendsetting.

Jemima Kirke

Oh maybe Kirke thought the Golden Globes were hippie themed? The beach is the opposite way, love. A boho look is extremely desirable but donning a piece that looks as if it faded in the wash really isn't.

Lena Dunham
Wow, worst dressed of the night goes to this little lady who not only got the colour of her gown wrong, but shape too. The top half of the piece is wonderfully figure-hugging yet swamps her as it reaches into a fat fishtail. My eyes hurt.

Reese Witherspoon
Oh no Calvin Klein, I don't know about you but I would consider wearing this to the gym.. The halter neck and colour are perfect for a workout! Did someone pin Witherspoon down and chemically straighten her hair? The style doesn't suit her at all and I'm assuming those wispy bits at the front are some sort of fringe?

Beyoncé: A Year in Fashion

For Queen Bey, this year has been massive. From the release of her documentary to her Mrs Carter tour to the surprise release of her self-titled album, the icon achieved a lot in 2013. As well as her musical talents, the star wore a number of pieces we lusted after on and off the red carpet, let's take a look back at her best dressed moments.

Emilio Pucci for the Inauguration
The Single Ladies star might have been miming during her performance at Barack Obama's Inauguration at the beginning of this year, but boy did she look fabulous throughout. Donning an Emilio Pucci floor length gown with subtle baroque detail, she finished off her look with elaborate curls, dazzling emerald green accessories and a cosy black fur coat.

Life is But a Dream Premiere

In February Beyoncé dazzled at the premiere of her HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream. Wearing Elie Saab, the semi- sheer piece contained intricate embellishments and the figure-hugging dress accentuated her killer hips.

H&M campaign

Back in the spring Knowles sent tongues wagging when she was named as the face of high street retailer H&M's summer line, with a number of gorgeous and affordable bikinis and billowing dresses. It's fair to say we lusted after the lot of them!

Givenchy at the Met Gala

This year's Met Gala had a striking punk theme and the Grown Woman singer appropriately wore a fiery Givenchy number for the evening. With a progressive paisley fire trim flowing through the outfit and a snakeskin corset top she oozed diva, finishing off the piece with matching gloves and knee-high boots.

Kenzo for the Mrs Carter Tour
With any show-stopping tour, the outfits have to wow and the star showed her wild side in this flattering turquoise and burnt orange leopard print playsuit.

Topshop Playsuit
Although Beyoncé favoured Gucci as her designer this year, she was also a big fan of Topshop. She stepped out in a fabulous banana leaf tee with matching shorts whilst in Houston with husband Jay Z. A popular piece that has also been seen on the likes of J Lo, it definitely had a super tropical feel.

Gucci Paisley Outfit
At the end of this year, sporting a new bob and just before releasing her self-titled album, Beyoncé received mixed reviews for her paisley print Gucci playsuit but I loved it. Bursting with vibrancy and being taken in at the ankles made the piece extremely flattering and the high neck was both sophisticated and conservative.

Burberry Prorsum for new music video
Hailed as one of the most in-demand catwalk collections of this season, Burberry Prorsum's A/W collection contained an array of beautiful animal print and deep red shades. For a new music video the star shot recently she was seen in an ox blood trench coat with skinny metal belt complete with dark rouge lips and metallic stilettos.

Tom Ford at Album release party
Possibly my favourite of her outfits to date was the Tom Ford creation she wore for her album launch party. The figure-hugging bodycon dress had an intricate black mosaic print with stunning knee length boots to match, finished off with subtle peep-toes.

Fearne Cotton Opts for Bubblegum Bob This Christmas

Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton has had a lot to celebrate this year. From the announcement of her engagement to long-term boyfriend Jesse Wood, to the birth of her son Rex, what better way to close her year than to go for a brand new hair colour.

The 32 year-old released a cute Instagram selfie on Friday showing her newly trimmed candy-coloured  locks with the caption "Thanks @itslyndell for my Christmas hair!!! ".

(above: the style she opted for 2 years ago)

The style icon had her hair styled into a long bob yet the look is not a new one for the star. Two years previous she decided to dye it a similar colour tweeting "May have had my hair dyed light pinkish. One day left of my 20s. Had to do it. Regress. I am 15 again!"

This is definite hairspiration Fearne, I'm loving it. Other stars to think pink are Katy Perry and Little Mix's Perrie Edwards.

Katy Perry

Remember Pop princesses' prissy stage? Perry looked fabulous with her faded pastel pink hair and I love her 1940's curls here

Perrie Edwards

Button-faced Little Mix member Perrie Edwards is known for getting bored of her hair styles, for a fleeting moment this year she opted for a baby pink with a more vibrant dip-dye on the ends of her locks.

Helen Mirren
The legendary actress stunned at this year's BAFTAs when she stepped onto the red carpet with a subtle tinge to her hair. High five Helen!

Kelly Osbourne

Pink doesn't work for everyone however, as Kelly Osbourne demonstrated with this disaster back in 2011. Take note ladies, this is not the way to do it.

Jennifer Lawrence Speaks Up Against Fat Shaming in the Media

What an inspiration!

As if you couldn't love Jennifer Lawrence any more than you already do, she produces yet more inspiring quotes. The actress has famously been one to speak her mind, and her latest interview with Barbara Walters is no exception.

The 23 year-old stated "it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV." She rightly argued the point that if censorship takes place in some areas of the media, why not others.

"If we're regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect it has on our younger generation, why aren't we regulating things like calling somebody fat?"

The star that often professes her love of food and is famed for her down-to-earth personality made these statements at the ABC's 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year filming.

She went on to say "'I think the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool."

Living in today's society where there is an increasing amount of pressure on young women to look a certain way, it's refreshing that such a prominent actress can make intelligent and forward-thinking comments on society, ones which will hopefully be listened to.

Best and Worst Dressed at the AMA's 2013

Last night the stars were well and truly out for the American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Let's take a look at the red carpet hits and misses from last night.

Best Dressed:

Kendall and Kylie Jenner

O.M.G. The two Jenner sisters are definitely growing up and Kylie's (right) look was my favourite look of the night. She really reminded me of Kourtney Kardashian with her newly cut bangs and I loved her monochrome outfit- a white leather sleeveless top with velvet cigarette trousers and stiletto boots. Kendall looked elegant in her white mini dress with silver embellishments around the neck.

Lady Gaga

Looking slightly toned down, but just as beautiful as ever, Gaga donned a lilac Versace gown that made her look every inch the Grecian goddess. The elaborate silver body jewellery juxtaposed her simple blonde flowing locks- perfect.

Miley Cyrus

*shocked face* Is that really Miley in Versace Versus? she looks stunning in this simple trouser suit with plunging V and oversized gold safety pin detail, thumbs up.

Katy Perry

If there is one person who can adopt a vampy, get utterly adorable look, it's KP. I love her floor- length cutesy spotted print gown with floral detail and her rouge with tight black curls make her look reminiscent of Snow White. Beautiful!

One Direction

Puberty has truly worked it's magic on these five lads as they are looking dapper on the red carpet. Extra brownie points go to Liam (centre) for his gorgeous coat and moustache, he is definitely my new fave member of 1D.

Naya Rivera

*fans self* oh gosh, how hot is Rivera looking in Michael Kors? little black dresses are always a winner, but with a risque cut-out like that, I'm not surprised she turned heads. Loose curls and some chunky gold bangles finish off her look perfectly. Take note ladies..

Rihanna

I'm being totally biased here because I'm pretty sure if anyone else wore this, I think it would be in my worst dressed... I love Rihanna's style and I just think that although this looks slightly on the lingerie side, it is an intriguing two piece. With the sheer diamond paneling to the bottom half of the gown, I really can't tell whether the pattern is a new tattoo, or a floral detailing on the chiffon.. either way it looks fab.

Ke$ha

I WANT KE$HA'S HAIR. I love that she has adopted a pastel pink and blue for her hair, but kept it fairly conventional with a black dress and Angelina Jolie split, pretty flawless.

Emma Roberts

I have an inner battle going on with this gown. I really like the metallic concept and I do think for someone with such a tiny frame, this gown does suit Emma Roberts. Her purse however, is a crime to fashion, it needs to be burnt.

Worst Dressed:

Taylor Swift

Ewwww! this Julien Macdonald piece was one of the biggest disasters on the red carpet last night. When it comes to sheer paneling, the section should be the same complexion as the lady wearing the dress, this however is not. I abhor sequins too, and is it just me or is Taylor ridiculously thin now?

Kelly Osbourne

Kelly I get that you like pastels, because your hair is lilac, but what is this dress? You aren't going to prom, and this gown is GREY. The star looks better in fish-tail dresses, or something more figure hugging- stop hiding those curves honey.

Heidi Klum

Tassels, are the bane of my life. This dress looks like someone ripped the lace, and tried to sew the wrong parts all back together. It's a visual mess and what is with the small tufts of lace on the shoulder straps. VOM.

Zendaya Coleman

Dressing in a sheet is totally fine, if it's Halloween Zendaya. Any more bangles on that arm Miss Coleman and you will look more like the Michelin man, and that's not a good look.

Aubrey O'Day

Oh wow, well there isn't much left to the imagination here is there Aubrey. How is anyone meant to admire a dress when all you can see is cleavage?! This dress is a massive joke and the splits are way too much. There should be a rule: either show a lot on the top, or on the bottom: NEVER BOTH. Ewww

Keltie Knight

Erm, wow. Glitter meets iridescent feathers  with this gown and I just don't think it works. If the top half would have been teamed with a plain black pencil skirt, it would have been perfect. Feather should be reserved for, well, birds.
