Extravagantly opulence with other-worldly qualities, these year's Met Gala gals were on serious style form this year for the event's Manus x Machina theme. Whether it was embracing the more synthetic side, or grasping the concept of the machine made vs the handmade garment it's fair to say the stars really pulled it out of the bag. Here are some of my favourite, and not so favourite looks of the night.
Best Dressed
Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned, and this elaborate LBD is no different. The bandeau shape compliments her figure and I love that she added edge to her look with a pair of thigh high boots.
Brie Larson
Many accused actress Brie Larson of copying Taylor Swift's gown, but her piece makes it to my best dressed list. Mermaid scale-esque sequins combined with slicked back hair and dark lips make for an edgy look.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry looked ah-mazing in her gothic-inspired dress with gold embellishments. I love her dramatically high bun, a la Bride of Frankenstein too.
Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart's red carpet style is pretty much on point and Monday night saw her in this glittering piece with punk-inspired lace-up details and a bleach blonde quiff- perfection.
Karolina Kurkova
A number of people were (quite rightly) swooning over Claire Danes' glowing gown, but many missed Karolina Kurkova's ethereal, light-up dress. Fabulously floaty with delicate tulle, this is truly a fairytale dream.
Rachel McAdams
There was a plethora of golden gowns on Monday night, but Rachel McAdams' regal piece was by far my favourite. Decorated with quote-esque detail and teamed with a vampy lip, this look oozed decadent vibes.
Florence Welch
Richly embellished and with an enchanting iridescent finish, Florence Welch's dress is a sartorial dream.
Emma Watson
Interpreting the theme by donning a dress made from recycled materials, actress Emma Watson showed the power of eco-friendly fashion with this monochrome two piece. This isnt the star has fused separates with formal dresses, and she really knows how to rock it. Perfection!
Kendall Jenner
The unbelievable Kendall Jenner was on top form last night in a geo style floor-skimming gown. Adding a slice of futuristic fun, she finished her look with a slick back 'do for that nod to high fashion.
Selena Gomez
Punk meets couture with Selena Gomez's Met Gala ensemble and I'm digging it. Pairing a simple embellished slip dress with a leather crop top reminiscent of a breast plate, she finished her look with some hard wearing boots. Can I borrow this?!
Lady Gaga
Gaga always brings it on the red carpet, and I've got respect for this daring contraption. Ticking all the boxes in the extravagant department, her encrusted blazer was paired with a shimmering corset and bra combo, finished with statement 80's hair.
Kylie Jenner
Fusing decadent adornments with a futuristic fitted shape, Kylie Jenner shone in her glittering floor-length gown. Finished with flowing tassels, she added a touch of sophistication with a blunt bob.
Kim and Kanye
A couple who killed it on the catwalk, Kim and Kanye embraced the theme in full force, awash with embroidered sequins and crystals. Spot Kanye's (pretty weird) contacts too.
Lily-Rose Depp
Giving us a sneak peek into her future potential, Lily-Rose posed it up on the red carpet, in none other than Chanel. I love this little lady and she sure knows how to keep it high fashion.
Alexa Chung
Giving us the ultimate in alternative prom goals, Alexa Chung attended the prestigious ball in a tailored two piece, channelling masculine elements with her slicked back hair.
Ciara
Less granny chic, more glowing beauty, Ciara had me reaching for the talc with her grey locks and barely-there gown. Sexy AF!
Nicole Kidman
I'm not usually a fan of Kidman's style, but this other-worldly cape-come-dress totally enchanted me. I'm so into the celestial elements, and Nicole shows the perfect way to finish off an evening look- with a glittering tiara.
Worst Dressed
Taylor Swift
Okay so I'm all for celeb transformations, but Tay's attempt to be more edgy is a little bit confusing to me. The vamp lip and the hair work for me, but the metallic snakeskin and those dodgy cut-outs are a no no.
Madonna
In no situation, like ever, should we be subjected to Madonna's derrière. Thank goodness her hair (kind of) covers up her boobs.
Solange
I love Solange, but I feel like she's a walking, talking billboard for her sister's Lemonade album right now. What is this?! I know pleats are in, but this is a step too far.
Zendaya
Zendaya is normally on point when it comes to her hair and beauty, but I'm really not feeling this look. The one-sleeve feature is a bit 2010 and what's with this bowler cut?!
SJP
Lordy, what is going on here with those cappuccino-coloured cuffs and that oversized Victorian necklace. My eyes hurt!
DVF
She might be a designer, but this is a dress disaster. Those butterflies have me all aflutter, but not in a good way.
Liberty Ross
Did Miss Ross not get the memo? This wasn't a funeral, take that veil off gurl.
Lily Collins
No Lily! I usually love your style, but what did you do here? I feel like the coral element of her dress is on backwards, and that strip across her chest is NOT flattering.
Demi Lovato
I did feel sorry that Nicki Minaj was throwing shade on Demi, but maybe this awful dress was why? I haaaaaate the garish baroque elements, black panels and sequin sections. Oh wait, that's the whole thing.
