The Golden Globes 2016: All the Nominations & the Essential Watch List

It's that time of year again! *eeeeep* Will it be another year of tragedy for Leo DiCaprio? Will Carol come out on top, and how will Tarantino's last movie The Hateful 8 do?

The Nominations were announced yesterday, and with Ricky Gervais returning to host, it's set to be a seriously good night. If, like me you can't wait until January 10th, why not prep for the big event with my watchlist!

Nominated for best motion picture, Mad Max was released on DVD back in September and makes for an impressive re-make of the Mel Gibson originals. Released at the end of November, Carol tells the story of two women from completely different backgrounds who engage in a love affair during the 1950's. Critically praised and starring the multi-award winning actress Cate Blanchett, the romantic drama has been nominated for the most Golden Globes. Amy Schumer's Trainwreck in now available on Netflix, Spy was released on DVD recently and Brooklyn with Saoirse Ronan is currently in limited cinemas. I think it's time to grab the popcorn dont you?

Come January 1st, you have two corkers to look forward to. Jennifer Lawrence's Joy is released, as well as Eddie Redmayne's The Danish Girl, already hailed as an artistically made pseudo-biography. For those who missed The Martian in cinemas, you can pre-order the DVD set for release on January 12th. Fancy a classic Hollywood biopic? Trumbo tells the story of the legendary screenwriter who is blacklisted due to his political beliefs- in cinemas on 5th January.

The dream would be to watch all of the movies nominated before the Golden Globes, but with a few of them we might have to wait a little while. The 15th of January plays host to two movie releases- Explore Leonardo Dicaprio's uncharted wilderness in The Revenant, and The Room tells the story of a woman and her son being freed after five years in captivity.A week later, delve into the world of finance in The Big Short starring Hollywood hunks Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Christian Bale and on the 29th, Spotlight delves into the lives of journalist who investigate a religious scandal.

Best and Worst Dressed at the BAFTAs 2014

Best Dressed

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Erm, wow. I don't know about you, but I'm taking some serious tips from this couple. Co-ordinating with your boyf is definitely in at the moment with this Saint Laurent and Valentino combo. Brad kept it sleek and suave and Angelina juxtaposed him perfectly with an open shirt, cigarette trousers and some skinny stilettos. Perfect!

Fearne Cotton

Forget the fact that Fearne Cotton is simply a Radio 1 DJ because this lady has serious style. I LOVED this gold embellished floor-length gown with sophisticated long sleeves and finishing off her look with oversized, luscious curls made me green with envy. 

Ruth Wilson

I spotted an awful lot of black at this year's BAFTAs  and so it was fabulous to see a bit of metallic donned by Ruth Wilson. Her ankle-length cigarette trousers with matching blazer and rouge trim ignited the red carpet and I loved her matching stilettos. 

Lea Seydoux

Woweee, Lea looks gorgeous in midnight blue Prada. The bust embellishments are super sassy, but the sleeves add a touch of class. Chiffon can often ruin an outfit, but with this gown it adds an ethereal feel. Those Hollywood curls are to die for. 

Olga Kurylenko

Flawless former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko opted for a stunning Burberry piece last night. A deep V is softened with a bandeau attachment and the bottom half of the skirt is composed of red snakeskin-style glittered sequins. 

Amy Adams

Ever the classic beauty, Amy Adams struck gold in Victoria Beckham last night. Complimenting her in all the right places, the high neck, subtle sheer sections and fitted bottom half looked fabulous. I love her low side bun and plum lipstick too!

Michelle Rodriguez 

Leather elements are a massive winner and I am loving Michelle's choice this weekend. The dark turquoise parts of the dress fuse with the leather perfectly ribboned at several points and Rodriguez finishes off her look with loose waves and a solid clutch. 

Tinie Tempah

Tinie looked fabulous in his velvet suit with matching shoes! Next time though, try not to high-five Prince William during the ceremony, that's just embarrassing. 

Leonardo Di Caprio 

*SWOON* How suave does Leo look in his Giorgio Armani suit? Perfectly quaffed hair and  some shiny shoes are all this actor needs to look utterly flawless. 

Worst Dressed

Lily Allen

Vivenne Westwood is known for her quirky pieces and I really did love the variety of colour to Allen's choice. However the pink hair piece to accompany the gown cheapened the otherwise sophisticated silk. Sorry Lily!

Tuppence Middleton

Another silk piece to make its way into my worst dressed list is this one worn by the unfortunately named Tuppence. The actress' night gown-esque dress went with gaudy matching handbag in insipid baby pink and I wasn't keen on the array of ruffles that situated themselves on her left side. 

Helen Mirren

Despite the fact that slight ruffles, embellishments and sheer panelling are very much in at the moment, combining them makes for an eyesore. Mirren might have received a distinctive award last night, but there are no prizes in store for this gown. 

Gwendoline Christie 

Hey Gwendoline, are you cold?! The Game of Thrones actress looked looked slightly chilly on the red carpet with this dress and matching cape. Yes, that's right, a cape. Is hatred too strong a word? I do love to see a lady of fair complexion however...

The Confessions Of My Dream Movie Boyfriend...

So when I was surfing the snazzy Glipho app the other day I came across L.Bel's gliph where she discussed her fictional character crushes. She had some awesome choices which I fully concurred with and I enjoyed reading it so much that I decided to compile my own selection of hunky heartthrobs. Enjoy! 

1. Romeo- Romeo+Juliet 

For me, Shakespeare is a huge weak point. The eloquent language is swoon-worthy and for that reason, the character of Romeo is on my list of dream boyfriends. He has an extremely vulnerable side too and is willing to go against his family for love. Anyone willing to scale a wall to get into your balcony window gets my vote too.

2. Driver- Drive

Ryan Gosling's character in Drive is so cool and collected, he doesn't even have a name. Any man with a bit of mystery is attractive, and the Driver certainly delivers in that sense. He wears the same clothes throughout the film, yet still seems to look impeccably smart. Check out those blue eyes too.

3. Marty McFly- Back To The Future 

This one is kind of embarrassing, but I have always had a little crush on Michael J.Fox. Demonstrating below his amazing ability to pull off double denim, Marty manages to combine equal amounts of ignorance and intelligence.Someone who has access to a time machine is someone I want to associate myself with.

4. Jason Bourne- The Bourne Trilogy

What do you get if you mix self-defense, intelligence, vulnerability and pretty face? JASON BOURNE. To me, Mr Bourne is in a superior league to James Bond and his amnesia gives him a sensitive side- he even gives the women in his life a pretty good hair cut. How can you resist?!

5. Dave- Kick Ass

By day he is Dave Lizewski, but by night this goofy teen transforms himself into Kick Ass, possibly the most clumsy and humdrum superhero there is. His passion for wanting to help people and his sheer disregard for the dangers he is entering into earns him massive respect from me. What a cutey.

6. Harry Osborn- Spiderman 

I loved the character of Harry Osborn in Spiderman, he is so underrated. The element of his personality that impresses me is his determination. Despite it being an obsession with killing Peter Parker, he is nonetheless a man with ambition. His face isn't too bad either.

7. Chuck Bass- Gossip Girl 

I know this is cheating, but my last dream boyfriend is from CW's Gossip Girl. I LOVE CHUCK BASS. He is suave, sophisticated, playful and has THE most amazing accent. Despite his dark side, his eternal yearning to be with his first love Blair Waldorf is knee-weakening and anyone who can win an argument by simply stating 'I'm Chuck Bass' is pretty much flawless.
