Best and Worst Dressed at the Oscars 2016

Let's take a look at the biggest night of awards season, and the major style goals it provided.

Best Dressed

Lady Gaga
I'm loving the new pared back Gaga, and this gown with matching tailored trousers was a refreshing change from her show-stopping ensembles. A classic Hollywood spin on the modern gown!

Saoirse Ronan
What a beauty Saorise is turning out to be. I loved this emerald green slip dress with all over sequins for a touch of sparkle.

Olivia Munn
I never thought head-to-toe orange could work, but Olivia Munn stunned in her zesty one shoulder gown. Completing the look with slicked back hair, the actress channelled the paletted of her dress with matching coral lip. Perfection.

Rooney Mara
Ever known for her vampy looks, I was a fan of Rooney Mara's modern Victoriana look. Adorned in white lace that draped across the red carpet, she updated the vintage look with scraped back hair and a plum lip.

Jennifer Lawrence
J Law can do no wrong when it comes to her red carpet look, and the nude and black lace made for a sophisticated aura. Keeping her hair in a 60's style lob, the star took the plunge with a deep V neck and minimal makeup.

Margot Robbie
Sparkle and shine bbygal. How adorable did Margot Robbie look last night? Her gold gown could have aired on the cheap side very easily but she kept it classy with slight waves and little to no makeup.

Charlize Theron
Fiery, fierce and effortlessly glamourous, Charlize Theron stunned in her plunging red floor-length gown.

Worst Dressed

Alicia Vikander
I know she said she was channelling Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but the princess vibes are slightly lost for me here. A ruched hem and 90's style embellishements make this dress look more like a teenage prom piece than an Oscar-worthy look.

Heidi Klum
Purple chiffon is a no no for me I'm afraid. What was Heidi thinking? this is ghastly.

Kerry Washington
Monochrome looks are so in right now but I fear Kerry Washington is airing on the side of steampunk. What is this?

Best and Worst Dressed at the Brit Awards 2016

As we speak, the singing stars and Z list glitterati are placing their bums on seats for the annual giving of Brit awards. But who won the red carpet gongs for best and worst dressed?

Best Dressed

Adele
Lady in red! Adele looks beaut in this frill-tastic frock with signature red lip.

Rihanna
Ah I do love it when Rihanna goes all cutesy! This violet slip dress with intricate ruffles is effortlessly understated.

Anais Gallagher
I'm so excited about this little bean's future! Gallagher has been seen with the fashion crowd this week and she's showing us real style potential with a retro trouser suit in baby blue.

Lana Del Rey
Oh my. Middle parting plus signature pout plus enchanting florals makes for one seriously ethereal Lana Del Rey. This is definitely one of my favourite looks. How cute are those fur heels?

CharliXCX
Opting for something slightly more refined, CharliXCX took to the Brit Awards red carpet in a sheer lemon floor-skimmer that sat on the shoulders. Thank god she left those scalp plaits at the Elle Style Awards and opted for a slicked back look instead.

Little Mix
Hey hey, killer quartet coming through! How ah-mazing do Little Mix look? Co-ordinating with nude shades with flashes of gold, the all-girl band need some extra love for their attention to detail, especially on the part of Leigh-Anne Pinnock's accessories.

Talia Storm
I love anyone in a Balmain x H&M number and boy did Talia Storm rock it. I'm thanking the hair Gods she decided to ditch the electrocuted look because those golden locks were in need of showing off. Go girl!

Pixie Geldof
Another star who opted for cute over sexy, Pixie looks fab in her ditsy floral maxi dress.

Sam Rollinson
I love the structured feel Sam Rollinson's mini dress is exuding. Complimenting her complexion and worn with a simple bob and earth-toned lipstick, the model personified elegance.

Worst Dressed

Kylie Minogue
Wow. Kylie looks like a fusion of Boy George and 80's Madonna in her dreadful lace corset get-up.

Florence Welch
Although I love a bit of blushed silk, I felt Miss Welch went a little too far by draping old curtains over her dress. I know it was cold out there but really?!

Jess Glynne
Argh, it's the disco look of nightmares! Green is my fave colour but srsly Jess sort it out. This ensemble is ghastly and that hair has left me speechless.

Laura Whitmore
NOOOO. I felt like the Elle Style Awards had Laura looking potentially stylish but this little get-up says otherwise. Mini dress plus feathers is like, a no go.

Alesha Dixon
Can someone please tell Alesha Dixon to stop trying?! What is she trying to be with this? It's like Balmain and Versace got together and made a really awful baby. I HATE this look.

Fleur East
Nudes are so in right now but listen carefully ladies, this is how NOT to pull it off.

Cheryl Fernandez-Bla Bla
"Oh hai me name's cherilll cole and I'm at me junior prom". BLEURGH how juvenile does she look in this bandeau dress? I think it's the putrid yellow-green that puts the final nail in the coffin for me.

Sinitta
Don't even be surprised that Sinitta is here. She's definitely got the 'ew factor'.

Best and Worst Dressed at the Elle Style Awards 2016

The Elle Style Awards kicked off tonight and all manor of celeb lovelies turned out to show us their style side. Let's take a look at the best and worst dressed looks of the night.

Best Dressed

Bella Hadid
Model Bella Hadid stunned in a black fringed piece with over-the-knee boots and slicked back hair. How does she make it look so effortless?!

Suki Waterhouse
Ethereal beauty Suki Waterhouse stepped onto the red carpet in her signature whimsical fashion, opting for a crisp white gown, delicately decorated with a subtle floral print. i think she's on to a style winner here.

 Neelam Gill
I LOVE Neelam Gill and she shows us how chic she can go with a back-detailed white maxi. Adding interest to the gown, a back split and string straps gave the dress a luxe edge and she finished her look with statement rouge and a messy up do. Perfection!

CharliXCX
Awe CharliXCX I love you! You might have been getting a tincy bit of stick for those interesting outfits at Fashion Week, but that's what I think makes you spesh. This minty green number is sure to have attracted the eye... I'm not too sure about those scalp plaits though, her hair would have looked better in classic Hollywood waves to reflect the decade of the dress.

Laura Whitmore
I'm not usually a fan of Miss Whitmore, especially as her recent stint in the public eye is due to a certain Mr DiCaprio, but nonetheless I think the presenter positively glowed as she made an entrance to the awards. Cols shoulder cuts and cute broiderie anglaise looked amazing on her.

Amber Le Bon
Bursting into bloom, head-to-toe florals suited Amber Le Bon down to the ground. That heavy fringe and fish-tail finish to the gown gave her an edgy look- I approve.

Paloma Faith
Never afraid to try something new out, Paloma Faith turned heads this evening with her new fringe. It was her part fluffy dress I loved however. Not only did it look snug in this cold whether, but the blue tones were positively iridescent. Enchanting!

Sam Rollinson
I love a good spotted dress and the effortlessly cool Sam Rollinson got it spot on. Subtle padded shoulders and a plunging neckline helped to transform the classic print into coveted evening wear.

Worst Dressed

Mollie King
Bleurgh! I don't like Molly King's dress sense at the best of times but this violet concoction is awful. The lace up detail looks like a tangled mess and her choice of lip colour just blends in with the rest of her bland ensemble.

Lottie Moss
I love Lottie Moss and thought she was really coming into her own fashion-wise, but this one is a fail for me. Metallic on metallic and a top-half that leaves little to the imagination? NOTY.

Lily Donaldson
Who wears a swimsuit under a sheer dress. I rest my case. What is this?!

Competition: Win a Copy of Milos Karadaglic's Blackbird: The Beatles Album

It's competition time! I'm excited to say that I've been asked to review classic guitar maestro Milos Karadaglic's new album and I will be giving a copy away. Read on to find out how to win!

An award-winning classical guitarist from Montenegro, Milos Karadaglic has a well-established  fanbase that have been supporting him since his first album release in 2011. This year sees the guitarist take on Beatles tracks, reviving them with fresh and innovative arrangements with the help of celebrated musicians from the realms of Pop, Jazz and Classic- cue Tori Amos, Gregory Porter and many more.

The Review
I may be biased because I love The Beatles, but with this album, I'm in love. Beginning with the much-loved Blackbird, rejuvenated favourites of Come Together and The Fool On the Hill were brought to life by Karadaglic's haunting playing. Words of wisdom are supplied to Let it Be by Gregory Porter as Tori Amos lends her enchanting voice to She's Leaving Home. Beatles fans will enjoy the uplifting sounds of Here Comes the Sun and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds while skeptics may be won over with the classically alluring sounds of Michelle. With enchanting guitar playing that never falters, the album takes a trip into nostalgia and possesses a distinctly calming aura that demonstrates the sheer skill Karadaglic possesses.

How to Win
Love the Beatles? This album is the ultimate drive-time go-to and I have a copy to give away. All you have to do is follow my Instagram account (@maria.nichol) or my Twitter (@whatthefauxpas)  and comment below when you are done. The winner will be picked at random on 1st March at 9pm, and I will contact you via social media to get all your details.  Good Luck!

Best and Worst Dressed at the Grammys 2016

The biggest night in music took place last night- yes it's the Grammys (woot woot!) From models and singers to actresses and TV personalities, the stars were out in full force to show us their wears.

Best Dressed

Bella Hadid
I may be biased (I LOVE BELLA) but how effortless did Miss Hadid look last night on the arm of boyfriend The Weeknd? Making a case for the plunge neckline, the star teamed her look with subtle strapped heels and slicked back hair.

Ariana Grande
Although Ariana stuck to her signature pony, I was excited by her fiery red floor-skimming gown. Way to make a statement gurl!

Adele
Adele, I love you. It's always nice to see a long sleeved piece and this one worn by the songstress positively shimmered. That long bob made me want to reach for the scissors.

Ellie Goulding
In a delightful shade of mauve, Ellie Goulding kept it subtle (unlike a lot of people) in this season's most coveted cut, the slip dress.A sweep over and intricate jewellery complimented the look perfectly.

Amber Heard
Hot to trot, Johnny Depp's wife Amber Heard didn't need a gown to make an impact. Her sleek trouser suit and red lip put Zendaya's attempt to shame.

Florence Welch
A Florence you are so cute! How dreamy is this bubblegum pink gown with space imagery? I'm not a fan of frills but the bottom half of the piece is done to perfection.

Lady Gaga
Oh Gaga, could we expect any less? Kudos to the star who arrived dressed in a David Bowie-inspired dress, complete with statement orange hair and heels I would only describe as 'sitting shoes'. Always one to make an impact, this year was another success for her.

Miranda Kerr
Model Miranda Kerr brought her a-game to the award show after-party in a wild animal print dress in acid green and brilliant yellow. I'm digging it.

Kacey Musgraves
Singer Kacey Musgraves looked ethereal in her bandea frilled gown, decorated in elegant shades of violet, blue and turquoise.

Worst Dressed

Taylor Swift
Oh hey Anna Wintour, is that you? Sporting a disasterous bob and a bandeau top that belongs in the 90's, this two piece is an utter mess. Taylor, you do know we can see your pants, right?

Dencia
Whoever said "I know, let's create a onesie, but a onesie that is decorated with rhinestones and Hello Kitty dolls" has something wrong with them. What is this?!

Carrie Underwood
Wonky boob tube plus extreme side split equals bleurgh.

Faith Evans
Someone needs to tell Faith Evans that fur stoles were so last season. Her silk dress is a putrid shade of cream and she's really missing the mark when it comes to an old Hollywood look.

Zendaya
A trousers suit that doesn't work for a number of reasons- the flared trouser and the grandad collar shirt- look to Amber Heard who did it right.

Ciara
Okay so when we are talking side splits, Ciara is a prime example of what not to do. You should be wearing underwear lady, and I don't see any...

Z Lala
Obligatory Z LaLa on the worst dressed list- as per. What is this contraption? It's like early 2010's Lady Gaga...
