Peter Capaldi to Replace Matt Smith as New Doctor Who

I know I am not alone is saying that I will definitely be mourning the loss of Matt Smith as Doctor Who, after he announced he would be leaving the series back in June. But it seems Christmas will be the point where Doctor Who will be handing over his tardis keys to a twelfth replacement.

With 789 episodes, the series is the longest running ever beginning in 1963. With a sonic screwdriver, two hearts and over 40 companions, the time traveller continues to battle his fiercest enemies, the most formidable being the Daleks and Cybermen.
Speculation has been wide and extensive with actors such as Idris Elba, Lara Pulver, Dominic Cooper, Ben Daniels and Domhnall Gleeson said to be in the running for the role. Peter Capaldi was the bookies favourite to pick up the role.
Smith is said to love his replacement, who was previously nicknamed 'Houdini'

During a live show that aired on BBC One at 7pm tonight, it was revealed that Peter Capaldi  is to play the new doctor.

What do you think about their choice?
